#86

Today is Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy

at Two Spoiled Cats

Today's photo prompt is

I don't like heights
they give me a fright.
I inherited this
(I am sure ) from my mom.

When I was 11, we went to
New York City to see the sights.
I can still see all the lights
on Broadway blinking brightly.

The elevator quickly took us to  the top of the
Empire State Building.  As the doors opened,
my mom had a 'death grip' on the neck line of my shirt.
With her other hand she had a tight hold on my wrist .
She was nearly cutting off the blood supply.
I felt like I was choking.
In spite of the 8' chain link fence,
topped off with at least 2' of curved barbed wire, she thought I
was going to fall over the edge.
